Dec. 9/08) From Dave & Joanne Killey.
Just updates on our travels here on the Amazon River cruise. Today we are at the port of Parintins in Brazil. We are heading in to see a local aboriginal show called the Boi Bumba Festival Show. We still have 4 more days on the river before we cross back over the Equator and turn north back towards Florida. They have convinced Joanne & I that we should participate in the festivities on board when we cross the boarder. Apparently they cover us, and some others, with food then we jump into the pool. Does not sound like much fun unless your watching. They like to pick on the Canadians I thinkā¦LOL.
We always thought the people of Mexico had a hard life style. I can say that here in Brazil, they live a way farther down the chain. In the outback area, the homes do not have doors, windows and everyone sleeps on a hammock. Our local tour guide the other day says he came from a family of 25 siblings. We did not ask how many wives his father had.
Our river cruises so far have seen a lot of pink dolphins, crock’s, and small anaconda’s but very few birds so far. I have attached a few pictures.
All the best to everyone. |
