Michigan - December 2008
We hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season. We also hope you all have made it to your winter destinations or are enjoying the winter in Michigan.
We would like to tell anyone who is ever thinking about going on the Grand Circle Caravan, do it. We had such a good time and Al and Marilyn Harms, who were the hosts, did a very good job.
Next year’s State Rally is set for June 11-14 at Mill Creek Campground in Mackinaw City. The cost this year will be $300. We know that this is higher than our other rallies, but we think that everyone will have a good time. If you want to come in early you will need to contact the campground. We have a lot planned. The number you will have to call will be on the calendar of events. We have 50 sites reserved and hope that we will be able to fill them. The Lilac Festival will be happening on the Island when we are there.
Next years camping season looks to be a busy one. The Michigan Aires and the Michigan Great Lakers have their campouts set for next year so check them out in the Calendar of Events and mark your calendars to attend as many as you can.
This December in Michigan there was two get together’s, one was on December 3, at the Old Country Buffet in Wyoming, with the Aires, where they had 15 couples and one was a new member. The Great Lakers was on December 14 at the Red Cedar Grill in Williamston and they had 13 couples attending, also with a new member. The Great Lakers also decided to make reservations at the Red Cedar Grill for next year’s December get together.

Michigan - October 2008
The last rallies of the year are just about here. The Michigan Aires had their meeting at Kibby Creek in Ludington on October 3-5, with Tom & Linda Pikaart and Doug & Deb Wieland hosting and the Michigan Great Lakers met on October 10-13 at Traverse Bay Resort with Curt & Sue Hurson hosting.
At the September rally of the Michigan Aires up at Indian River, where there were 13 rigs and one visitor. John & Judy VanLoo hosted and Ray and Mary Peka co-hosted. Everyone at one time or another went to Mackinaw City where there was an Antique Tractor parade on Friday. Then on Saturday night some went back to see semi-trucks that had their rigs all lit up come across the bridge. Everyone had a wonderful time. Officers for next year for Michigan Aires will be John Clouse President, Sharon Bos Vice President, Deb Wheelock Secretary, and Mary Peka Treasurer.
The Michigan Great Lakers had their rally at Hidden Ridge in Shelbyville. They had 18 rigs and 3 of them were first timers to a chapter rally. Don & Margaret VanStrein hosted and Arnie & Lavina Stahl and Jay & Jeanne Roosien co-hosted. They had Sky-Med give a seminar. On Thursday night Ken Cisler and some of his friends gave the group that came in early a concert. As always everyone had a great time. The Michigan Great Lakers officers for next year will be John Williams President, Claudette Roy Vice President, Maggie Russel Secretary and Carolyn Williams Treasurer. Thanks to all of you for volunteering to hold these offices.
Just a reminder, next year’s State Rally is going to be June 11-14, 2009 at Mill Creek Campground in Mackinaw City. Hopefully the weather will be warmer in June and the Lilac Festival will be going on at the Island. We decided to change it to June because the International will be August 1-8, 2009 in Goshen, IN and the Region 6 rally for next year is set for October 7-11, 2009 at Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, Kentucky.
A December get together has been set for December 3, which is a Wednesday, at 1:00 pm at The Old Country Buffet in Rogers Plaza, in Wyoming. Contact Tom Pikaart at 616-896-9904 if you want to attend. Michigan - September 2008
Here we are in September already. The Michigan Aires are having their rally at Indian River on September 12-14 and the Michigan Great Lakers are having theirs at Hidden Ridge on September 19-20.
This summer has gone by really fast. We have had some great rallies. At our State Rally in July some had overdosed on ice cream at the Parlor and we sat around the campfire with our umbrellas again, but we sure had fun.
