Welcome to Region Five - Home to some of the best college football and basketball in the nation!  Where the population triples in the winter – also referred to by the original Spanish settlers as “Bengay y Tylenol”, meaning, “pickle ball capital of the world”

Whether your are meandering down the Natchez Trace in Mississippi, enjoying North Carolina barbeque, slurping Virginia Chincoteague oysters, enjoying Georgia Peach or Pecan pie, snuggling down in your seat at the Tennessee "Grand Ole Opry", dodging "Throwed Rolls" near Foley Beach Alabama, dining on shrimp and grits while touring Charleston, South Carolina, or laying on a Florida beach digesting that last piece of key lime pie, …you’ll know when you have arrived!

By now, you have probably recognized that familiar Newmar Kountry Klub theme – great food, meandering, relaxing, and great camaraderie!

Please, oh, please join us on this great adventure.  Peruse these pages and pick a chapter, luncheon, caravan, or rally event to attend!  Join up, join in, volunteer, and dance like no one is looking.  I guarantee you will make friends for life!

Bonnie and I are home-based in Virginia, but will see you at a rally soon… enough of the business – what time is the ice cream social?

February Happenings

To our Newmar Friends !!

Belated Happy, Happy New Year ! It continues to amaze us how very fast each year rushes by and before you know it.....365 days have zoomed by once again. It has been said that “time flies when you are having fun”......guess we are having a blast!!

The new year will begin for us with hosting the Tampa RV Super show. Newmar will welcome 130 coaches and buddies ( at last count) to our special spot in Tampa. The Newmar techs, the NKK store full of quality products, the Executive meeting, the tech session, the chapter meetings.....it was a wonderful time.

It is wonderful seeing folks and getting ready for all the southern gatherings in Florida. There are lots of luncheons, rallies, and day events for you. Check out the calendar of events for places to be! Do read with care and even take notes about all the wonderful events that will be happening in Region 5 during the winter months. We are lucky to have so many chapters that continue to gather with Newmar friends to start 2012 off with good times.

Spending several months south has been wonderful and given us the opportunity to attend rallies and luncheons and catch up with old friends. However, health issues for my Mom will mean that we must return to Virginia to help with her physical and emotional health. Thank you for your continued prayers.

As we welcome this new year, Bonnie and I want to thank all of the outgoing officers who have donated their time unselfishly to to keeping the NKK vibrant, fresh and strong. Also, a huge thanks to those new officers who have graciously stepped forward to carry us into the future. Volunteerism is what keeps the NKK going. We know that several of the chapters are having difficultly finding officers or rally hosts. If you have enjoyed your rallies and chapter in the past, please, please, please consider paying it forward by volunteering as an officer or rally host – it is not that difficult and others are always willing to pitch in and help you. Please don't let this lifestyle vanish – being among good friends while sitting around the campfire is extremely enjoyable during these stressful times.

Safe Travels....and rally on!

October Happenings

Greetings to all,

There is so much news from Region 5 that it is difficult to know where to begin and where to end. So let us begin with very good stuff.

We had a wonderful weekend with the Tennessee Volunteer Kruisers in Nashville, Tenn. We were blessed with “warm” sunshine and wonderful entertainment and great food and such a bunch of friends. Just let it be known that we are all now TV stars !! Yes indeed, we had invitations and enjoyed the shows for Larry's Country Diner on the RFD TV network. If you know this show, you will realize that the studio audience is seated in a Diner and enjoying the musical talents of the guest, comedy of Nadine and the best lunch !! Starting about September 8th and running through late October on Thursdays, you can see the TN Volunteer Kruisers on at 8:00pm on Thursday nights on RFD TV. Shows are repeated on Friday and Saturdays – check you TV listing for times. You know how we Newmar folks love to eat....can you imagine being feed lunch 4 times!! And eating each time !!! Of course you never know what they will serve you but it is delicious. Thanks Tennessee Volunteers for this great time. Look for all of us on the show beginning in September and we will be available for autographs. Thanks for hosting a great rally go out to Joe & Kathy O'Connell – and special thanks to their grand daughter, Rose, for keeping us supplied with those delicious cookies all week – what a great cook!

Our next adventure was with the Virginia Wheels in Galax, Va. Where we enjoyed the company of folks from Va., North Carolina, Florida and Penn. A grand gathering in the mountains of Virginia. We did have a bit of rain as required at a Newmar rally. We also had great food and made many new wonderful friendships as required at a Newmar rally. Thanks to the Terry Labonte Newmar dealership and Luxury Coach Specialist Stephen Shumaker for bringing new Newmar coaches to our gathering. Do we need to say that we were having such a great time that we stayed in the area even after the rally folks went home. Thanks to Dwayne and Pat Kittle and Bob and Cathy Marks for hosting this great rally!

Now for the downer side of this article. As we type this note we are parked in our driveway after Hurricane Irene did her thing to the east coast from North Carolina to Vermont. We have been with out power for a week, we took the grand kids to the mountains after our area was under mandatory evacuation> We are not home living out of the motor home with no power to house, cleaning yard, and all that stuff. But we had no damage to our home and all of our family is doing fine. Prayers for all who are dealing with the stress of Irene.

Our friends on the Outer Banks of North Carolina did not have a good time with Irene. Before Irene said “Good Night” to our friends, she did major damage to the main highway and there is a breech in the road with three new inlets to the ocean. This breech makes our Camp Hatteras RV Resort impossible to reach at this time. We had such a great time planned, meals arranged and the entertainment was Molasses Creek from Ocracoke Island. It is with DEEP regret that we must cancel our Region 5 rally for October 9 -13. DEEP regret....believe me. We have traveled to this area for so many years with our sons, our extended family, our grandsons, and have so many memories of fishing, surfing, beach time....we were excited to share and it really hurts my heart to not be able to share this unique area with all of our Region 5 family. We are not sure at this time if we can reschedule this rally but we will keep you posted.

Goodness.....take care everyone!!
Happy Trails !!
