Marcus and Doreen Blanchard, Taylors, SC have rejoined the Tarheel Chapter…Welcome Back!
Philip Melvin has announced his marriage to Mary Mills. They were married on 12/29/2011…Congratulations to Philip and Mary and we would like to welcome Mary to the chapter.
Bo and Judy Johnson have decided to discontinue their membership with the Tarheels.

Rally Information . . .
Chapter Rallies –
Our “Christmas at the Beach” rally was quite a success ! There were 18 coaches in attendance and a good time was had by all. The food was great and the “No Rain Dance” that everyone performed must have worked. The only rain we encountered was on the drive down and NOT during the rally. The Christmas gift exchange proved to be great entertainment for a couple of hours. The drawing of gifts was tightly monitored by Santa’s good elf (aka Sadie Lee Stewart) and after all the gift swapping (and stealing) was done, people left with a smile on their faces and promises of retribution for next year.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our rally co-hosts, Roger and Peggy Weeks for all their great work. This year there was an unannounced contest for the best decorated RV or camping spot. Chip & Sarah Wright won first place with a certificate of first place and an award of $2. Jerry and Joanne Waller from Portland, Oregon won second place with a certificate and an award of $1. Great job Chip & Sarah and Jerry & Joanne.

Our Next Chapter Rally –
The next chapter rally is scheduled for June 7th – 10th in Galax, Virginia. Co-hosts Al & Jan Brown along with JC & Meldonna Britt tell me this rally is scheduled during the Galax “Leaf and String” festival, so there should be plenty of entertainment and things to do in the area. Put this rally reservation on your calendar before heading off to the International Rally in Gillette, Wyoming.

Chapter Business Meeting . . .
The final business meeting for 2011 was held during the Beach Rally in Myrtle Beach. The following are the highlights of the meeting:
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer’s report was read and approved.
Old business – none
New Business –
A donation will be made to the NKK office in support of the Konnection magazine.
Election of officers was held with all officers retaining their positions for 2012.
Chapter rally hosts were identified for 2012 along with the hosts for the next joint Christmas at the Beach rally for 2012.

News about Ocean Lakes Campground . . .
I just read great information about the Ocean Lakes Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC. This is the location of our annual joint Christmas at the Beach rally and it seems that we’ve chosen a great location. Ocean Lakes has just been awarded an “A” rating in the Guestrated.com survey website in conjunction with the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. Additionally, Ocean Lakes won the “Mega Park of the Year” award. This campground has been awarded “Campground of the Year” award 5 times by the National Association and was also awarded “Top 10 favorite parks in North America” for 2011 in a Woodall’s vote.
