December 2011
Every year at this time we all look back and reflect on what we did or could have done. We are no different. We had an extremely busy year! And of course our plans changed at every corner. Sometimes it was a health reason; sometimes God had different plans than we did. But once again, it all worked out. So we are grateful to have been flexible enough to accept the changes in our lives.
Now it is time to look forward to the Christmas season and all the joy it brings, then the New Year and another rally season begins. We are looking forward to joining several of our Newmar Family at Quartzsite for the annual “Gathering in the Desert.” This is such a fun time camping out and catching up on all that has gone on for the past year. Of course we all make plans for visiting the Big Event. When to go and where to park? If you have never been, it is really a shock to see that many Rv’ers in one area.
Our 2012 Washington State Rally will be at Long Beach in August. We are looking forward to a relaxing time just watching the waves at the beach. Andersen’s RV Resort is near the ocean, just a short walk to the beach. In fact, you can hear the waves when it is quiet time. We will be there the week before the kite festival and we understand there is a lot activity preparing for that event. There should be an abundance of things to see or you can sit back and watch all the kites. As our plans become finalized, we will let everyone know what they include.
We are wishing our Newmar Family the Merriest of Christmas and all the joy it brings, and a great New Year. Safe travels,

October 2011
Time flies when you’re having fun and it sure has this spring and summer. In the northwest summer was very late arriving. We got home in July and had the furnace on in the motor home in the mornings. Now that is definitely wrong! Finally the weather changed, summer arrived, and all the rallies were great. How nice for Jim and Wilma Weeks #9233L, International Directors, to be able to see and enjoy our beautiful area. Maybe sometime in the future we will be able to have an International Rally in our part of this beautiful country again.
The Washington State Rally was great, and well attended. The area around Spokane and Deer Park flourishes with a variety of activities the year around. A county fair is fun with all the different crops and animals that are raised. What a surprise we had for one lucky person, the opportunity to feed a “Big Cat”, of course there was a barrier between them, but still really fun. We were fortunate to have three couples that had joined the Klub, we know they were pleased to see how much fun we always have and to learn what information we have to share. The rivalry between sides of the state was continued on Evergreen Aires day. A friendly game of baseball (not the real game) is an ongoing tradition. Once again, this is a great day provided by our chapter. They do all the cooking and cleaning up afterwards.
Now that fall is on its way, the annual migration of “Snowbirds” has begun. We will be in Arizona by the time this is published. Be sure to check the Konnection for all the rallies and luncheons in your area.
Safe travels wherever the road takes you.

Goodness time is flying by this summer. The International Rally is done and plans are in the making for next year, 2012. Even though we were unable to attend, we know it was a great success. Jim and Wilma Weeks put forth a great effort to make this an event to remember.
The Washington State Rally in Deer Park is in the final stages of planning. If you have never visited this part of the USA, it might be something you would enjoy. If you like to golf, we are staying at a RV Resort that is on a golf course; and if you enjoy sightseeing, we are located near at least a dozen lakes. One of our favorites is Lake Roosevelt which is the backwater behind Grand Coulee Dam. Spokane is within 20 miles and is home to a beautiful riverfront park in the downtown area. Also this was the site of the World’s Fair in 1974. Nearby is Lake Coeur d’Alene, Priest, and Pend Oreille to name just a few of the more than 72 lakes within a 54-mile area. Sunday is Evergreen Aires day and the chapter and volunteers prepare breakfast and dinner, hold their annual meeting and election of officers. It is a great time to consider running for office. That’s one way to get involved.
Because we were still in Arizona, we missed the Evergreen Aires spring cheap-rally. This is a time for the chapter to give back to its members with a fun get together. Nothing special, just good people having a great time! Of course anytime our Newmar family gets together, it is special. The officers work hard, but I think this is something they all look forward to hosting.
We stayed in Arizona until late June and are currently living in our Motor Home. Even though we are “snowbirds” Washington will always be home, so time will be spent finding a new home, getting somewhat settled, and then preparing to return to Arizona again. We are hoping that our summer plans will include the Montana State and Chapter Rally in Ennis.
Be sure to stay in touch with those who are ill, we know they always enjoy hearing from their Newmar Family. And if you know of someone who needs encouragement, be sure to let us know. Sometimes all that is needed is a kind word and you feel better.
Stay safe where ever the road takes you; and remember, we can be reached either by cell, 509.939.1119 or e-mail ijomiller@aol.com.

May 2011
It doesn’t seem possible that spring is already here! What a beautiful time of year with all the flowers sprouting and the trees turning green. The desert is even green this year. We haven’t had a lot of rain, but enough to turn the ground to a beautiful green rug. The cactus is all budded and some have started to bloom. I think this is one of my favorite times of the year. To see the hand of our God do his wonderful work and renew the areas around us.
The International Rally in Vermont will be our first stop when we leave Arizona. (We are taking the long way home this year.) It is going to be great fun visiting with all our Newmar Family and taking part in the fun at International. We know Jim and Wilma Weeks have planned great times and will keep us busy the time we are there. Be sure to plan on volunteering if you never have. That is the one way to find out all the work that goes into the planning and execution of a rally. Also it gives you the opportunity to make new friends.
We are all set for the Washington State Rally in September (see our ad in this issue of the Konnection). Be sure to get your reservation in early as we only have twenty sites available. Fall is also such a wonderful time of the year, but remember to be prepared for weather of any kind. We have so many plans that I’m not sure you will have much time on your own. Perhaps you might want to consider an extra day or two in the area. If you do make such plans, be sure to contact the RV Resort and confirm your extra dates.
One of the tours we are looking forward to is the tour of “Cat Tales Zoological Training Center.” This is a zoological park that was founded in early 1991 with only four cats. By the end of the summer the following year, they had two tigers, five pumas, a serval, two bobcats, and two lynx. Since that time they have added much more including an interesting new pair, a cub with a puppy as his best friend.
And don’t forget Sunday is our “Evergreen Aires” day. This has been a tradition for several years and we always have a great time. This day the officers and volunteers cook breakfast, have their annual meeting, election of officers, games and conclude with dinner. This year they are planning a “Heavy Hors d’Oeuvres” potluck for dinner.
Safe travels wherever the road leads,

It doesn’t seem possible that time is passing so fast and Rally season is in full swing. We were able to attend the Quartzsite, Arizona, “Gathering in the Desert” for the first time. What fun. We were able to reconnect with Newmar Family that we hadn’t seen for some time and the opportunity to meet new friends. That’s what a rally is all about! What an opportunity to make new friends and learn about their time in an RV. Of course the show in Quartzsite is really interesting. If it’s made for an RV you would find it at that show!
When we returned from the desert, we hosted a hamburger feed with some of our Newmar Family in the Yuma area. Others came from Indio and The Phoenix areas. We were so pleased to spend time with our past Region #2 Directors, Jay and Donna Weewie, #4226L. They both looked wonderful and it was great to hear about their adventures since retiring. It was also fun to catch up with Leland & Marlene Florence, #4323L, past Washington State Directors, and Gary & Marilyn Larson, #9109L, past Idaho State Directors. Our plans are all coming together for the Washington State Rally in Deer Park. Because there will be so much to do you better plan an extra day or two in the area. If that is the case, be sure to contact the RV Park in advance and request extra time. We cannot take in all that will be available and who knows, you might see something during the rally that would make you want to learn more. One of the things we are excited about is the Spokane County Fair. This part of Eastern Washington is known for several different crops, wheat, lentils, hay and, of course, cattle and dairy farms and fruit orchards. The fair is a time to show all the things that make our State well known throughout the USA and all of the exports that go all over the world. Another thing of interest will be Green Bluff. That is an area that has gardens and orchards. We think this part of our State has the best fruit available. In the next Konnection, we will have all the final details for the Rally. Just remember to save September 8-12 for the Washington State Rally being held at the Spokane RV Resort at Deer Park, Washington. We look forward to seeing you there! Until then…safe travels.

It’s hard to believe this past year went by so fast and here it is February already! Time to start thinking about all the upcoming events for the Kountry Klub! We are looking forward to being able to attend the International in Essex Junction, Vermont this year. It promises to be another great time. Having missed most of last year’s rallies, it will be good to see our friends from all over this great country of ours. We love to see the different states, country sides, and just travel in general. When we return home from International, we will get serious about finishing all the plans for our Washington State Rally. It is being held at Deer Park Washington (September 8-12). This is a small town 17 miles North of Spokane. The RV Resort is located at a beautiful golf course. We were only able to get 20 sites, so get your reservations in early. We are planning a visit to “Cat Tales”, a sanctuary for big cats. They have interesting stories how they came to acquire some of their inhabitants. Then there is Green Bluff, a farming community nearby. In this area you will be able to pick your own apples, and get lots of different vegetables, fruits, and interesting gifts. Then it will be off to the Spokane Interstate Fair. This is another great time! Maybe you would want to venture to Spokane and visit the IMAX Theater, or visit the Riverpark and ride the carousel. As you can read, there will be lots to do and see. It is so difficult to plan a rally and leave time for all to check out the area. We will have all the final details in the next Konnection. In between the International and our State Rally, be sure to check the Konnection for a rally. We can’t think of a better time to stop, relax and make new friends.
Until then…..safe travels,

Where did summer go? Fall is here and the migration of the Snowbirds is in full swing.
We have arrived at our winter home in Arizona and look forward to the planned luncheons and the “gathering in the desert” at Quartzsite, Arizona.
Our plans are being made for the Washington State Rally of 2011. It will be held once again in September, the 8-12th. There is a lot going on that time of year, County Fairs and Harvest Festivals to mention only a couple. Be sure to bring your golf clubs as the RV Resort is located adjacent to an eighteen-hole course.
Next year promises to be another full schedule of Rallies. Take one in! The International Rally in Essex Junction, Vermont, promises to be another great one. Think about volunteering. It is a great way to meet new friends, and it is always appreciated.
Stay safe.

Summer was very late in arriving in the Northwest, and now it is almost over. The amount of rain we had made it more enjoyable once it got here. At our home in Spokane, we had over 6” of rain for the month of June, and the average temperature was a cool 68’.
The Washington State Rally is history. We were so pleased to be able to attend the Rally. When we needed assistance, our officers were there more than willing to help.
We wish we could have traveled to Indiana, but that was not to be, next year perhaps. We know it was extra special this year for a variety of reasons.
A big thank you to Barney and Barbara Barnett for their years of dedication and all the hard work and sacrifice they have given the Klub. We truly have enjoyed getting acquainted and working with them.
Plans are already in the works for the next Washington State Rally. It promises to be something different, in a different location, but just as much fun. We will give you more details as plans progress. We are planning on returning to the month of September for this rally, so keep that in mind when you start making rally plans for 2011.

Thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts for Bill. His surgery went great, and for the first time in over twenty years he is without pain in his legs. His recovery will be lengthy, but we both know how it will be worth the time.
The Washington State Rally plans are coming along with the help of the officers of the Evergreen Aires. What a dedicated bunch they are! We truly are lucky to have them, and we do so appreciate them. With their help, the State Rally in Walla Walla will be another fun time. I believe at this rally it will be interesting to learn all about our State Vegetable, the Walla Walla Sweet Onion. We have been to the area and there is a lot of history there. Founded in 1859, Walla Walla is where French and Italian winemakers grow wine grapes and make home-crafted wines. Today Walla Walla hosts 91+ wineries and modern times have seen the product of what is now the “Walla Walla Valley” title earn international applause.
History buffs can trace the footsteps of Lewis and Clark on their journey to the Pacific Coast. They returned through Walla Walla County on their trip east in 1806. You can touch the ruts created by covered wagons as they made their way along the Oregon Trail to the Whitman Mission west of town. Visit the Fort Walla Walla Museum to step back in time at this 19th century military reservation. You can tour some historic homes dating back to 1895, or take a walking tour of Old Walla Walla (Main Street), once called The Nez Perce Trail. I don’t think there will be enough time to see and do all that is available; so if you choose to extend your stay, just let the Four Seasons RV Park know prior to the rally. They can be reached at 509-529-6072. The weekend of the Sweet Onion Festival will have plenty to do with all the booths and vendors.
If you have questions, please call us at 509.466.3173 or e-mail at bijomiller@aol.com.
Be sure to take time to enjoy the scenery and smell the roses.

April 2010
Trying to write this article has been difficult for a variety of reasons. I guess starting at the beginning is always best. Bill is facing surgery at the end of April repairing severe back problems. This has been ongoing for over 20 years. This year his neuro-surgeon said “enough”. This has resulted in a lot of questions as to the State Rally. Well once again the wonderful officers of the Evergreen Aires have stepped up and said they will host the rally for us. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend, but we know what capable hands all those attending will be in. We truly are blessed to have them, and the fact that they are so willing to help us out in a difficult time is truly appreciated. Bill’s recovery will be lengthy and I know he will be included in many prayers. For that, I say thank you.
So the plans have gone ahead for the Sweet Onion Festival Rally in historic Walla Walla, Washington. This city has a lot of history, is the home of a great college, and also an interesting part of the state with many vineyards. Of course the Sweet Onion is the official vegetable of Washington. There have been many competitions over the years with another state over bragging rights as to which onion is the best. Of course we all know!
It is time to go north and get things ready for our recovery time. I know how blessed we are to have our Newmar Family behind us, and appreciate all the offers of help we have had.
Stay safe,

We hope your Christmas and New Year Holidays were as special as ours were this year. We had planned a short trip back to the Northwest to surprise family, and it all worked! We had told a few friends of our plans, but no family. Needless to say, they were excited to have us home. Our Mother/Mother-in-law, was celebrating her “99th” birthday so it made Christmas all that more special.
This year promises to be another great year with all the rallies planned and the special celebration of the anniversary of the Kountry Klub. We know Barbara and Barney Barnett are planning something very special. We will sure miss their expertise at hosting rallies. However, we also know the new International Directors, Jim and Wilma Weeks, are an excellent choice to follow in their footsteps. We will keep you posted on all the plans for the state of Washington and our Chapter, the Evergreen Aires.

Another year is coming to a close and, as always, a time to reflect. This past year has been a difficult one for several industries. We are very fortunate to have a corporation like Newmar that is willing to go the extra mile to stay in business. We all know what sacrifices the Miller Family has made to make sure the corporation has remained solvent another year. Thank you!
Think about the upcoming year and how special it will be to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Kountry Klub. We know Barney and Barbara have great plans to make it a rally to remember. Just think, how many clubs or organizations do you know about that are able to stay focused on their goals and provide what our Kountry Klub does, or has done for 25 years. Wow, pretty impressive.
Now the time is here to think about our 2010 rally in Walla Walla July 16-18 . We are planning on a great time and hope you will consider attending. We think we have a wonderful local chapter, the Evergreen Aires, and look forward to working with them again. We know they are some of the best volunteers in the Klub.
If you have any questions, or concerns, be sure to keep in touch either via e-mail or give us a call.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a blessed Christmas.

What a trip we had on the way to the International Rally in Goshen, Indiana. Along the way, we attended the Region 2 Rally, hosted by Mike and Carol Lowery (10354L), in Cody, Wyoming. It was fun and entertaining. The food and friendship shared by all was, as usual, great.
Thanks to all the work Barney, Barbara Barnett (2916L) and the volunteers put into making the International a Rally to enjoy and remember. I don't know how they make each Rally unique, but they sure do!
I guess we should back up a bit. When we were preparing to leave Spokane after our first night out from home, we had a major issue (HWH electronic control panel caught fire) while preparing to leave the campground. Many times you hear about great campgrounds and campers. We can tell you first-hand about such a campground in Garrison, Montana (The Riverview). One of the hosts, Larry, never left our coach until he knew all was safe. The family next to us was there throughout the ordeal, and then they fixed and delivered lunch. They were a great support to us.
After the Rally in Cody we headed to Moscow, Iowa, and had some work done on the leveling system. HWH is a great company that extends service to everyone, and also has a good spot when you have a need to stay a few days. After waiting for a part to be shipped from Freightliner, it was off to Goshen. I can only tell you what a comfort our Newmar Family has been to us. This was something that we don't want to go through again, but having friends a phone call away, and offering to fetch parts, has been a great support to us. I would hope that other clubs have a support system like ours, but we know how great ours is.
Then it was time for fun. One of our stops was Rentown near Nappanee for bread and rolled butter (can’t forget the homemade noodles either). We thought we might have to rent a trailer to bring all the goodies home.
Back in Spokane, we were home long enough to restock the motor home and leave for the Idaho State Rally. We think one of the things we really enjoy about our Newmar Family is that it is just that, Family. We always look forward to renewing friendships and making new ones.
As you read this issue, our Washington State rally will be completed and in Newmar tradition we had a great rally. It was a good time to catch up with all that has been going on with our family and seeing those we haven't seen for a while. Of course it wouldn't be a rally without more food, Mexican train and card bingo. Our chapter, the Evergreen Aires, provided a great day. We know we can depend on them for good food and more fun.
We are so fortunate to live in this great country where we can travel at will, visit with friends, and have the opportunity to see all the things we love.
Safe travels,

Kudos to the Officers of the Washington State Evergreen Aires, the Rally in Toppenish was great. We know everyone had a wonderful time. Toppenish had a lot to see and the parade was fun, as was the trip in the wagon to see all the murals.
We have been receiving reservations for the Washington State Rally, September 10-14th, but still have a few spots left. Long Beach, Washington, is a great place to relax, looking at the Pacific Ocean or perhaps shopping. Of course we can’t forget the car show. It promises to be one to remember.
As this is being written, we are getting ready to leave for the Region 2 at Cody, Wyoming, then on to International in Goshen, Indiana. Hope to see you all there.
I know it will be as much fun as all the Rally’s we have been to before. It is always so good to see friends that we only get to see at an International. We need to remember all the work that Barney and Barbara put into making this a success. I don’t think anyone realizes what goes into putting on a Rally of this scope unless they get involved. Volunteer, if you have not done so before, and find out how much fun it can be. Whether it is for a Chapter, State, Region or International Rally, that’s the only way to really find out all that goes into making each one a success.
Hope to see you soon, until then safe travels,

June 2009
Home again, but briefly. We are on our way to the Evergreen Aires Rally in Toppenish, Washington. This will be a great start for us to begin our season of catching up with all that has taken place over the winter months.
We are looking forward to the International Rally in Goshen this year. That will be a lot of fun to see that part of our great country again.
The information about our Washington State Rally is now in the “Calendar of Events”. We are looking forward to the tour we have planned. This is maritime museum with many interesting facts about the Columbia River and the area. September is synonymous with the Rod Run to the end of the World. There should be about 1000 vintage automobiles that will congregate for the car show that was started over two decades ago. In addition, there will be time to go salt-water fishing if that is your choice, or shopping in all the different shops. One unique display is the World Kite Museum. It is the only one in North America and one of eight in the world. There will also be time to relax at the beach and wait for the “green flash”. Of course our rally wouldn’t be complete without the “Evergreen Aires” day. They will do all the cooking that day, and then conduct their annual meeting with election of officers.
We are hoping to have our own games lady, Lynne Sawyer, in attendance. We are looking forward to her special bingo, a night or two of Mexican Train and all the other games. She is a great organizer. (Please see more details in our ad in this issue of the Konnection)

The annual migration of the “snowbird” is definitely underway in the Southwest. It is amazing to watch the RV Parks become vacated with each passing day. We left Arizona the first of May. We had an extremely busy winter golfing and doing a lot of visiting with friends that we only get to see during the winter months. But now is the time to start our plans for our summer travels, and with that, attending a rally comes to mind. We hope new owners try to attend one and learn what the Kountry Klub is all about. The information that you get from other owners is great, as are the friendships you gain.
Everything is nearly complete for the Washington State Rally, September 10-14, in Long Beach, Washington. We were there last summer and were so excited about all the scenery, the history, and of course the variety of restaurants. If you are a lover of the ocean and beaches then this will be one rally you won’t want to miss. (We will publish all the information in the June and August issues.) Of course that time of year is the annual Street Rod Show, so for all the car lovers they will enjoy that as well. As far as the weather goes, we don’t have control over that. Just remember why Washington State has beautiful green trees and perhaps that will help us understand that we need to be prepared for all things.

April is already here and where did the winter in the Southwest go? For all the “snowbirds” beginning their North bound travels, drive safely.
This is the time of year we all start thinking, what we are going to do in the summer months? Attend a rally of course.
We are busy planning the Washington State Rally which is scheduled for September 10-14, 2009. It should be lots of fun and, judging by past rallies, at least a 10-pounder. We have been looking at the pictures provided to us by Leland and Marlene Florence, and it would appear that we do a fair amount of enjoying food at all the events. So I think we best get ready for this year. Just a small teaser, the “End of the Road Rod Show” is scheduled during our Rally dates. Additional information on our Rally will be in the next Konnection and on the Region 2 website.
Support your Klub and participate when possible. Be sure to subscribe to the Konnection. $15.00 is a small price to pay to keep informed about the Klub and the information you will receive about rally dates and special events. Now is a good time to plan ahead for the International Rally. Your support is vital to keep the Klub moving forward. We think a big thank you is in order for Barney and Barbara Barnett, our International Directors, for all the work they have done to keep things moving in a positive direction.
Safe travels where ever the road takes you,

November 2008
We have arrived in Arizona for the winter months; however; we are working on all the plans for the Washington State Rally in September 2009. We have been in contact with Anderson’s RV Park in Long Beach and have been able to reserve 25 sites for The State Rally. From everything we have been told we are so lucky! Apparently with the big “End of the World Rod Run” (classic and restored cars) camping sites are limited so we are very fortunate. We had a conversation with some folks who have been trying for several years to reserve a site and now we have 25. Of course we will leave time to see all the sights in the area. So I guess the best advice we can give is when we get the fees established, send in all the proper forms right away. We will have the fees as soon as possible. Again this year we will have an early cut off date, as we will be doing some traveling. Hope to see all of you in Cody Wyoming for the Region 2 Rally on our way to the International Rally in Goshen Indiana. Be sure to continue checking the website for all the information regarding rallies and other Klub activities.

September 2008
The Washington State Rally September 4-8, 2008, was so much fun. We think we had some of the best volunteers that ever were present at a rally! Of course we are a bit prejudice. Really it was fun because of all the help we had. Opening night was great fun renewing friendships with folks we had not seen for some time, and meeting all three couples that were “first-timers.” Then Friday night the potluck was so very tasty. I think Newmar owners are some of the best cooks around. What a great variety of dishes we had. Of course the Friday night trivia was fun. We sure had some “creative” answers. Thanks to Connie Bader, former Washington State Director, for the questions and answers. Gene and Ann Carr, Evergreen Aires Secretary, were the big winners. Then Lynne Sawyer was just great as a bingo caller. I don’t know what we can say about her expertise. I guess that is enough!
The jet boat ride was just that, a ride. It was a smooth ride on the Snake River ending at Heller Bar for a wonderful prime-rib and salmon dinner complete with excellent desserts. 15 big-horn sheep entertained us. That was thrilling.
Special thanks to the Evergreen Aires for their Special Day. They provided a wonderful dinner of rotisserie chicken and all the trimmings. Then our special game lady, Lynne Sawyer, was again responsible for the Mexican Train tournament. I think all in all everyone had a wonderful time.
Now on to next year, we are planning our State Rally in Long Beach Washington. We will give you all the details, as they become available.
Our prayers are sent to those ill or recovering from a variety of issues. Remember them with a card and prayer. Be sure to let someone know so we can acknowledge the need.
Stay safe wherever the road leads you,
