December 2011

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.  Marie and I sincerely hope this last entry in the Konnection for 2011 finds everyone happy and healthy and looking forward to a new year.  Our rally in September @ Seven feathers was a big hit. Thanks again to Mike Phillips and Guaranty Family RV for bringing those beautiful new Newmar coaches for all to view. They were a big hit with all the guests at the RV park.  We had some great food and saw lots of the countryside in Southern Oregon.  We are looking forward to 2012 and a new Rally season.  We are looking into having our 2012 rally at the Port of Newport RV Park in ,Newport, Oregon around the 12th to 15th of September.  That is a great time to be on the Oregon coast, so mark your calendars.

Marie and I will be heading to Arizona after the first of January to spend sometime in the sun with several of our Newmar friends and enjoy some of that great southwest cooking.

Have a great fall and safe travels.

August 2011

Well we have had a much wetter and cooler spring this year than in recent memory. We haven’t however allowed that to keep us from enjoying our motorhome.  Spent a few days on the “Hoods Canal” last month and enjoyed some nice weather there. Very little wind for a change.

Final plans are being made for what we anticipate to be a great fall rally in September in Canyonville at the Seven Feathers Casino and Resort. The mystery dinner theater at the Historic Wolf Creek Inn has been finalized, as has the trolley tour with lunch. We are working on getting a great catered BBQ dinner set-up as well. We hope to have some new Newmar coaches from our great friends at Guaranty Family RV onsite for you to review. Keep the dates open, Sept 15-18th, as we look forward to seeing you there.  (Reservation deadline is August 15)

Have a great summer where ever your travels may take you and above all, Stay Safe. .

May 2011

As we write this article for the Konnection, spring seems still a ways away.  However by the time you have read it, spring will be well along.  Same goes for our plans for the Oregon September rally.  Just a reminder to anyone interested in attending, we will only be able to accommodate 15 rigs as the number of spaces available on a couple of the outings is limited to just 30 people.

Marie & I are looking forward to this coming Rally season and hope to see and meet new folks. They are great outings with a bunch of nice folks all with the same objective, to have fun with friends and enjoy their Newmar Rv's. Hope to see you soon and stay safe, where ever your travels may take you.

February 2011

Hope everyone had a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  For those lucky folks who have traveled to the south for the winter, we hope you are enjoying the "Sun & Fun" provided by your snowbird locations.  Those of us who had to stay home this year will no doubt be happy to see the spring buds and early birds, so we can all get back to the serious business of summer rallies.  Oregon & the Oregon Pioneer Chapter will be putting on our joint rally at the Sevens Feathers Casino in Southern Oregon this year (September 15-18).  We have several exciting and fun activities planned so we hope you'll be able to attend.  Be sure to check out the Rally section in the Konnection later in the spring for details.  If you haven't renewed your subscription to the Konnection, now would be a great time, along with your dues for the Kountry Klub and various Chapters.  Have a great winter and we look forward to seeing many of you come spring and summer.

November 2010

While the 2010 Oregon State/Oregon Pioneer Chapter Rally is now history, I wanted to just add a note of thanks to all of those of you who helped make it a great success.  From the Oregon Pioneer Officers, the sales staff of Guaranty Family RV, and of course the Kountry Klub members who attended.  The trip to the Evergreen Air museum was a big hit; I particularly enjoyed the 3-D Imax of the Hubble Telescope adventure.  Truly amazing.

In August, we attended the Region 2 Rally in Montana's Glacier National Park, where it was just a little damp, but otherwise a great time was had by all.  What an absolutely beautiful place.  If you haven't been there, you certainly should go and see it for yourself.

December 2009

The Oregon Pioneer Chapter had our last "get-together" for the season at the Seven Feathers Casino and RV Park in Canyonville, Oregon, October 18-22 (one of Good Sam's 10-10-10 RV Parks).  We had eight rigs in attendance and the weather was beautiful. After checking in on Sunday, several of the attendees, including Mike and Carol Lowery, Region 2 Directors, hopped on the shuttle and spent some time watching many "Southbound Snowbirds" leaving some of their retirement money at the Casino gaming tables.  On Monday, we all went to Lunch at the "Heaven on Earth" restaurant in Azalea, Oregon, and were astonished by the variety and SIZE of the desserts.  The owner of the restaurant surprised us all with a raffle where she supplied various examples of their desserts.  Everyone was a winner.  Tuesday dawned warm and sunny with a trip to the "Winston Wild Life Safari" where you travel, in your vehicle, thru 600-plus acres of countryside surrounded by wild animals from all around the world.  Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!! to name but a few.  Lots and lots of pictures later we exited to head back to the RV Park for a great steak and lobster dinner and a variety show at the Casino.  All in all, a great time was had by everyone and it was agreed that this should become an annual affair that will allow those heading south and those staying here for the winter one last "fling" before the season is over.  Stay well all and remember, "Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads."

October 2009

The Newmar Kountry Klub/Oregon Pioneer Chapter Rally was held in late August in Newport, Oregon.  We had 16 rigs in attendance.  Guaranty Family RV, from Junction City, Oregon, was kind enough to help out with 4 coaches for all to view.  The new King-Aire that they brought was a big hit as was were the new Dutch Star and Mountain-Aire coaches.  They attracted a lot of attention from not only the members in attendance but the rest of the RV Park and area as well.  Jack and Donna Taylor (15044), Idaho State Directors and Robert & Marilyn Regero (16797), Idaho Spudnut Officers were in attendance and enjoyed the Newport area hospitality.  The weather was very accommodating and those attending had a chance to see the Oregon Coast Aquarium.  Robert Henderson, Henderson's Line-up of Grants Pass, Oregon, held a seminar on various safety-related items and what to look out for with tires and shocks, etc.  We certainly appreciated all those who attended, as well as the suppliers and all they provided to make our first Rally a success.

Hope everyone has a great fall and a safe trip where ever your travels may take you.

April 2009

Well it’s finally settled; we are having our 2009 Rally “Newmar @ Newport”, Oregon. The Oregon Pioneer Chapter is joining with us to put on what we know will be a great time. We are going to be staying at the Port of Newport RV Park.  The clubhouse at the park will be ours to enjoy daily for coffee, etc.  Included in the rally fee is admission for two to the Oregon Coast Aquarium.  In addition to the aquarium, the OSU Hatfield Marie Science Center, Undersea Gardens, Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum, Wax Works museum, and the Historic Bay front area are just next door to the RV Park (across the bay bridge). A short distance away is the Historic Nye beach area with all its quaint shops.  So there will be plenty to do and see to keep you very busy for the three days.

If you are interested in attending this year’s rally, please contact Ross or Marie Turney at 503-647-2888, mrturney@msn.com.  We have a limited number of sites available due to the time of year along the Oregon coast, so the earlier the better.
