CALIFORNIA GOLDEN AIRES 2008 RALLY

“THE SPRINGS AT BORREGO RV RESORT”, 2255 DIGIORGIO ROAD, BORREGO SPRINGS, CA

OCTOBER 14 TO 18, 2008

We invite you to attend our rally this year.  It will be in a desert climate in Borrego Springs, which is next to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.  The arrival date is Oct. 14 and departure is the morning of Oct. 18.

Borrego Springs is located a few miles west of the Salton Sea.  I believe the best way to get there is to start in the Palm Springs/Indio area where from the I-10 (going east) you take Hwy 86-S south along the west side of the Salton Sea to route S-22 then west to Borrego Springs.  Turn right (north)on DiGiorgio Road, go 0.6 mile to the entrance on the right.  There are a couple of other ways to get there but I do not want to take my motorhome w/toad over those routes.

We hope you can attend.  We think we will have some fun.  The events we are planning include:

1.  A talk on the first night by a Ranger from the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park where he/she will describe the Park animals and flora and point out the off-road trails that we can drive on or maybe hike for those who feel up to it.

2.  Happy Hour every day and Breakfasts every morning.

3.  Outside/patio games such as Bean Bag Baseball, Desert Horseshoe (golf balls on ropes), Golf (at a nearby course because re-seeding will be going on for the one at our resort—sorry)  Prizes will be given.

4.  There is a GPS Geo Cache “game” set up on-site by the Resort (it’s free).

5.  Indoor games such as the Hand & Foot card game & tournament,  Mexican Train dominos & tournament,  and the Race Horse Game (with betting).  Prizes will be given.

6.  “An Evening With the Stars” presentation given by the Astronomer Dennis Mammana.  He will give an indoor talk and then set up at least two telescopes outside so we can view the stars/planets he had been describing while indoors.

7.  A potluck dinner one day, then another day a dinner featuring Dinger Russell’s BBQ spare ribs cooked in those black kettles for a few hours----Yum, Yum!!!   Due to time constraints involving the Evening With the Stars program, we will have a simpler “dinner” before the presentation begins whereby we will make-our-own sandwiches (plus other stuff).

8.  An on-site  Ladies Red Hat Luncheon (guys included for the lunch then they split to have their own round table BS session).

9.  A crafts session.

10.  A raffle of items that have been donated or we have purchased.

If you would like to attend, please send $220.00 per couple ($185.00 for singles) to me at the address below.  Make checks payable to the CA Golden Aires.  The resort requires that I notify them of the total number of rigs attending by Sept. 13 so please send your money AND a disclaimer signed by all persons in a rig as soon as you can.  You can find these disclaimers in  any Kountry Klub Konnection magazine and on-line by clicking here.
