New Mexico Chile Pepper’s Chapter Rally

We have an exciting rally planned with guided tours to both the Very Large Array (VLA) in Magdalena, NM and the historic Trinity Site on the White Sands Missile Range.  The VLA is a group of 27 230-ton, 2.5 meter diameter dish antennas that are used by Astronomers from around the world to study and listen for objects in our Solar System.  We can also attend the “Guided Night Sky” telescope viewing at the Etscorn Observatory on the NM Tech campus.

The Trinity Site is the location of the first test of the Atomic Bomb in July 1945 before the bombs were dropped in Japan during WWII.  So make your plans to attend this unique experience.  Picture identification is required for access to the Trinity Site – so please don’t forget to bring it with you to the rally.

Where:  Bosque Bird Watcher’s RV Park

We hope you all had a good Christmas and New Years and are looking forward to all that 2012 brings.

We are spending the Holidays in TN at our RV Park due to our manager having surgery.  We have had Ra in, Rain, Rain, but it looks like NM hasn’t had good weather either… SNOW of all things!

Soon we will have this weather behind us and can look forward to our exciting spring rallies.  The Chile Peppers are currently making plans for two Rallies this spring.   Watch the “Calendar of Events” and NKK website for specific details, then plan to join us.

Several of our Chile Pepper members enjoyed a Christmas dinner at Zea’s in Albuquerque early in December.  It is always nice to be able to get together with friends any time and any place.

Thanks to our officers who served in 2011 and their willingness to continue serving in 2012.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all soon.

We just closed out the year of 2011 rallies with our New Mexico State Rally which was held in our home town of Deming at Little Vineyard RV Park.  We had 12 coaches in attendance and had “strange” cool weather.

In spite of the cold weather on Friday, we had a great tour of the Border Patrol Facility here.  I believe we all have a greater respect for the fabulous work they do protecting our borders.  We were impressed with all the training they have to complete for their jobs.  Our tour included some question-and-answer time which we also enjoyed.

We went to the famous Adobe Deli for American food and to Si Senor for Mexican food.  Of course we all ate too much.

Some of the activities for the free time we had included our great Deming museum, and a walking tour of our historic buildings. The St Clair winery was having their festival with live music, arts and crafts, tours and competitions and some enjoyed that as well.

Be sure to keep a check on the calendar of events as we have several rallies in the works for the Chile Peppers which have not been finalized yet.  The details of locations and dates will be shown in future calendar of events.

Safe travels to you and we look forward to our next meeting.

We have returned to our “Land of Enchantment” and just finished our time at the Chile Pepper Rally in Chama NM.  Thanks to the Kelseys and Leuenbergers, we had a great time.  Some of us bussed to Antonito and then took the steam engine ride back to Chama.  We crossed the state lines between Colorado and New Mexico 11 times during our ride of 64 miles. What a beautiful country we have.

We want to welcome 3 new couples to the Chile Pepper group:  Bernie and Trish Duckett, Marty and Marion Marcum and Bob and Donna Potter.   We are excited to have more people joining our club.

Our next event is the State rally in Deming on Oct 6-9th at Little Vineyard RV Park.  We have an exciting rally planned with a variety of activities to choose from.  We hope you have signed up and we’ll look forward to seeing you there.

We are now at Spartan Service having our yearly service work done on the chassis.  The International rally in Vermont was a great success. Although it rained a lot it didn’t dampen our spirits.  It was great to see many old friends and make new friends there.  We have many Newmar people traveling this year in spite of the high fuel prices.  We all had a wonderful trip to Vermont enjoying our beautiful United States.  We hope if you are in the New Mexico area this fall you will attend one of our two rallies.  The first will be in Chama on August 25-28th and the State Rally in Deming on Oct 6-9th at Little Vineyard RV Park.  Please check the calendar of events for more details.

The Chile Peppers were well represented at the International Rally in Essex Junction.  We had a good time and it was great seeing old friends and making new friends – one of the best benefits of this club.  But I must say the wives cringe when they see all the guys gathering around an open bay door because we know it is going to result in some new gadget that our husband “must have.”  But it’s a small price to pay for the pleasure they clearly get from sharing information.

We hope to see you at our next rally in Chama, New Mexico on August 25-28 at the Little Creel Lodge and RV Park, 2631 S Highway 64/84, Chama, NM.    The rally fee is $30 and includes 3 breakfasts and 1 dinner.  We will also have a potluck dinner one night and one dinner at a local restaurant.  Call the park directly to make your site reservations at 1-575-756-2382, the rally rate is $23 + tax.  Please contact our hosts, Dave and Carolyn Kelsey, 505-270-9639 or cdkelsey1@gmail.com if you have any questions. Dave and Carolyn host the best rallies with lots of good food and fun.

We look forward to seeing you there.  Stay healthy and travel safe.
