    At the time of this writing, CA has had their 49ers chapter rally in Paso Robles in May.  The State Rally in Bakersfield was June 8-12, but occurred after this writing--so an account of the rally will be in the next issue. 

   The CA Bears rally will be from September 27 to October 1 and the CA Golden Aires rally from November 1 to 5.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend both of these chapter rallies (see the CA Chapter write-ups for more details).

                                          CALIFORNIA GOLDEN AIRES                                     Posted 05/29/10

    This year’s Golden Aires Chapter Rally will be held November 1-5 at the Emerald Desert RV Resort in Palm Desert, CA.  The agenda includes four breakfasts and two dinners.  We will have our usual golf tournament, Red Hat tea, crafts, and games.  We will tour a seeing-eye dog training facility in Palm Springs.   Optional (extra-cost) events include a matinee performance of the fabulous Palm Springs Follies, a windmill farm tour, and a dinner out.  Your cost is only $210 per rig for couples and $185 for singles.   Reservation deadline is September 17.  The weather should be great and the pool will be warm!  We sure hope that you can attend.  Make checks payable to California Golden Aires and mail your full payment to our Vice President and Rally Co-host, Steve Fisher, 16962 Nightingale Lane, Yorba Linda, CA  92886.

    Hi everyone… We met with our Secretary-Treasurers (the Derickson’s) at Sugar Barge RV Resort and Marina.  What a wonderful place to have a rally.  Lots of lawn area for games, a great clubhouse with two kitchens, a fishing dock for our fishing derby and all kinds of water sports.  We are very excited to be putting on this rally.  There is Bethel Island Golf Course for the golfers and we are looking into a tour of a coal mine at the Black Diamond Mine Regional Preserve.  We need at least 10 people to participate in the tour in order to receive a guided tour of the Hazel Atlas Mine.

      Penny and Max Nuttall have graciously agreed to be our Co-Hosts for our rally and I know Penny has been busy working on the menu for our 4 breakfasts and 4 dinners that we will be providing.  This is the 10th Anniversary of the Golden Bears and Sugar Barge is where the club was started, so we have a lot to celebrate.

     The CA 49ers held their chapter rally at Wine Country RV Park in Paso Robles May 3- 7.  It followed the Region 1 Rally in Jackson, CA by one day.  There were 28 rigs in attendance.  The highlights of the rally were the tour and docent talk at the Warbird Air Museum for the men.  The docents made history come alive.

    For the ladies, their Red Hat Luncheon at the Paso Robles High School Culinary Arts Academy, followed by a tour of the facilities, was very impressive. High School students learn the art of food preparation and service. Their teacher and Head Chef gave a very good talk on their schooling and work.

   Games were played, tours of Hearst Castle and the coast, winery tours, and plenty to eat rounded out our rally week.  Paso Robles and Wine Country RV Park are lovely places to spend a few days.

    We would like you to come help us celebrate our special Chapter rally.  It’s the 10th anniversary for the Golden Bears and we are planning a rally at the location where it all began:  Sugar Barge Resort and Marina on the Sacramento Delta in the town of Bethel Island, CA.  The dates are Sept 27- October 1, 2010 .  This is a beautiful resort and marina with a great RV park and clubroom.  We plan on having a fishing derby and lots of lawn games plus all the water sports you can imagine.  So be sure to bring your boats and fishing gear.  The rally cost will be $230.00 and we are limited to 20 coaches.  We pretty much have our menus worked out with a special anniversary dinner and a fish fry included in the 4 breakfasts and 4 dinners we will provide.
