ARIZONA SUN CATCHERS Posted 12/31/11 |
Well,
another Holiday Season has come and gone; and frankly, as much as we look forward to the Holiday Season and all that it stands for, we're always happy to return to whatever defines normal.
We are resigned to the fact that "normal" is a moving target and is what makes everyone's life exciting and worthwhile. Many great and exciting events for 2012 are going to be here before we know it so let's get prepared (better planning--another new years resolution that won't happen)!
The Gathering in the Desert at Quartzsite, AZ is January 18-22, 2012. See you there?
Come join us for the Sun Catchers Chapter Rally in Phoenix, AZ on March 8-11th. You'll get three nights w/full hookup, three breakfasts, three dinners (one is a "chili dump" which you won't want to miss for sure--believe us it's not as bad as it sounds--trust us!), a visit to Taylor Tours Inc., which is a customizer of RV's for celebrities, a spring training afternoon baseball game (small additional fee), a tour of the Music Museum in Scottsdale (small additional fee), a putting contest, card games and quality time for visiting. See below for information on registration.
Because of the time of year, we are on a very short reservation due time frame, so don't delay in sending in your check for $185 and the NKK disclaimer form.
See you in March 2012.

The fall rally season is back in full swing. We started our season attending the New Mexico state rally. (Thank you Keith & Jo Ann Wagner) We are currently sitting in beautiful Camp Verde Arizona, getting ready for the “Arizona State Rally”. This year we are looking forward to a presentation from a speaker from Lowell Observatory about the 55 million dollar discovery telescope being installed now. This will be followed by an evening of star gazing with telescopes.
Mike & Peggy Williams announced the dates and location of the upcoming “Take Me out to a Ball Game Rally”. This rally will include some fun events including major league spring training baseball. The dates for this rally are March 8th, 9th, 10th of 2012 at Desert’s Edge RV Village in Phoenix. Check the calendar, or call Mike for further details at 623-882-5161. Space is limited, so don’t wait to reserve space for this fantastic event.

Summer is gone and the fall rally season is here again. As this is published we are in route to the New Mexico State Rally in Deming. From Deming we are heading to Camp Verde, Arizona for the 2011 Arizona State Rally. This rally will include a speaker from the Lowell Observatory, regarding the 55 million dollar Discovery telescope, and an evening of star gazing if weather permits.
By the time you read this, the breakfast socials and luncheons will be in full swing around Arizona and the Sun Catchers will be putting the final touches on the spring training rally in the Phoenix area. Keep checking the calendar of events so you don’t miss out. Travel safe and come join in the fun.

Things in Arizona are pretty quiet in the summer months; many of you are traveling in the cooler climates until fall. Mary Ann and I are traveling from the recent International rally in Vermont to meet up with the Newmar Newfoundland Caravan in Nova Scotia. If you have not gone on one of the special event caravans, you should certainly look into these fun filled travel events!!
In our spare time we have finished planning the 2011 Arizona State Rally. Due to some space restrictions we have to limit this year’s event to 30 rigs, so please check the calendar, and get your spot reserved ASAP.
Our Sun Catcher Presidents Mike & Peggy Williams tell me that they have made the baseball spring training rally an annual event. Please watch for further updates in the Konnection, or on the web site.
Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing all of you this winter in Arizona.

ARIZONA STATE NEWS Posted 04/02/11
Spring has arrived in Arizona. The spring Rally season is in full swing. The recent Sun Catcher “Spring Training Rally” was a great success, and included going to a San Diego vs. San Francisco spring training ball game, as well a lot of good food and social activities. Thanks to our hosts, Bob & Dixie Carver, and Mike & Peggy Williams, everyone reported having a good time. Mike announced plans to make this rally an annual event, and to move it around to areas close to each of the six spring training parks in the Phoenix area. Several people volunteered to host future events! We are looking forward to next year’s event.
Dave & Bev Simmons, the Sun Catcher Secretary Treasurer, introduced the new Sun Catcher printed directory. What a neat and well done tool to stay in touch with fellow chapter members. The directory is a pocket size, hard card fold-up printed directory with all the chapter members’ pertinent information.
The 2011 Arizona state Rally is scheduled!!!--October 27th to October 30th and the location will be the “Grand Canyon”. The final details are now being worked out, and we hope to put the details on the calendar by May!!
Most of the Klub members we have talked to are getting ready to leave Arizona for the summer! We hope to see many of you at International in June, or at a Rally or in a campground somewhere this summer. Travel Safe.

ARIZONA STATE NEWS Posted 03/12/11
For the first time in at least three years the January “Gathering in Quartzsite” was blessed with good weather!! As a result the desert was packed with RVs, I heard one estimate of 300,000 rigs? At the Klub Gathering we had 26 rigs on the day the big tent opened. With the great weather we felt this was the best rally in Quartzsite since the large Newmar Kountry Klub rallies in the past.
The highlights of this “Gathering” included a great group dinner at the “Grub Stake” in Quartzsite, a nightly campfire (thank you Spike) and socials, and of course Smores, courtesy of Sue Conway.
For those not familiar with Arizona, the desert is a beautiful place in the winter, camping on BLM land is free outside the organized parks; the sunsets and sunrises are spectacular and sightseeing around Quartzsite is worth the trip.
This year we had attendees from as far away as Maine, Canada was well represented, as was the Northwest, people showed up from all over the country. I think the extremely cold winter around the country brought a lot of people to our beautiful state.
When the Big tent opened most of us raced to see the acres of RV stuff and anything else you could dream of, located in a huge tent and covering several acres all around Quartzsite, since no one returned empty handed, I must assume it was a good show.
By the time you read this the Arizona Sun Catcher, spring training rally will be over, and the group is attending one or more major league spring training games in the Phoenix area. The last I heard 22 rigs were signed up for this event. Mike and Peggy Williams along with Bob and Dixie Carver are hosting this event! Thank You!
Everyone we talk to is getting ready for the summer travel season, Region 1 is coming soon, several chapter and state rallies are fast approaching and we would love to have as many join us at international as possible, Currently I am aware of quite a few region 1 members that are attending, all I can say the more the merrier.
The Arizona winter luncheon schedule is in full swing, and we understand participation is great, all over the state. The 2011 Arizona State Rally is in the final planning stage! I know it will include a visit to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, great food, and a lot of fun. Keep the last weekend of October open for this event.
Travel Safe and Have a Great Summer!
