MEMBERS-AT-LARGE ELECTION

This position is open to any Kountry Klub member in good standing who owns a Newmar recreational vehicle.  The candidates shall have no ownership in, or be employed with, any RV Dealership.  It is a three year term starting July 1, 2012 and ending July 1, 2015. 

The Members-at-Large are elected by the general membership.  They are also members of the Kountry Klub Board of Directors, representing all members.  Members who intend to run for this position must file with the International Directors IN WRITING not later than March 1, 2012.

All candidates will have the opportunity to submit a picture and an article to be published in the April and June issues of the Konnection.  All candidates will also be offered the opportunity to address those attending the business meeting during the International Rally.  If for some reason a candidate is unable to attend the International Rally, they may designate someone to read their comments to the membership.

The voting will be done by secret ballot during the Kountry Klub Business Meeting held during the International Rally.  If you do not plan on attending the International Rally, and wish to vote, you may request a ballot from the Kountry Klub Office.  This must be done in writing or by email.  Ballots must be returned to the Klub Office no later than May 15, 2012.  Once returned to the Office, the unopened ballots will be kept in a locked box and taken to the International Rally where the box will be unlocked and the votes counted by those appointed to count votes.  The Members-at-Large will be determined by the candidate receiving the most votes on the first ballot.

As a member of the Board of Directors, you will be working closely with the International Directors, the Klub Office Staff, Region Directors and other Board  Members.  You should be available to travel and attend Board Meetings as necessary.  You should be a good public relations person with good oral, computer and written communication skills.  You will write articles for the Konnection magazine.  In addition, you will answer any inquiries you receive from the general membership.  You are responsible for reporting membership information, ideas and concerns as well as suggested recommendations for review by the Board of Directors. 

Benefits:  You will be reimbursed for Klub related office expenses, rallies, Board Meeting, travel and special Klub functions you attend on behalf of the Kountry Klub.  You will receive a rebate on your choice of a new Newmar recreation vehicle, renewal of membership while in office, title and name sign, name badges; and, special recognition at all Newmar Kountry Klub functions you attend.


UPCOMING EVENTS

WE WILL BE HAVING FOUR NEW EVENTS FOR 2012

First up will be the Western Caravan, this will begin right after the International Rally June 30-July 19. We will be visiting Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier National Parks, with a July 4 stop in Cody, Wyoming for the Cody Stampede. We'll be following portions of the Lewis & Clark “Voyage of Discovery” trail with a boat cruise through the “Gates of the Mountains” in Helena and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls, Montana. We'll be taking a historic Red Bus tour of Glacier National Park, and enjoying lots of good food and fellowship along the way. This event will be limited to 20 units and expected to sell out quickly. Next will be the Oregon Coast and California Redwoods Caravan. This will be from September 12-30. Come join us as we take in 8 locations spanning 18 days and nights of fun, food, and friendship.  Experience the beauty, grandeur, and diversity of the Oregon coast and the unparalleled majesty of the northern California redwood forests.  Enjoy breathtaking rocky cliffs, pristine beaches, rolling sand dunes, dense Douglas fir forests lining the Oregon coast, and the magnificent and unforgettable redwoods.  We’ll start our adventure near Astoria, Oregon, at the mouth of the Columbia River and bid our farewells in Eureka, California. This event will be limited to 20 units also. Reservations and details on this trip can be found in the upcoming February issue as well as on line at that time.

Back by popular demand will be our New York City Rally. This is scheduled for September 16-22. Join your Kountry Klub friends for 6 nights and 7 glorious days in New York City, the most famous city in the World.  Enjoy everything the Big Apple has to offer from two Broadway Plays to sightseeing tours and ethnic meals. We will be staying at Liberty Harbor RV Park in New Jersey. This event is limited to 25 units. Register Now!

Lastly new this year will be a Florida Keys Super Rally. This is scheduled for December 3-10, 2012. This will be a buddy rally, limited to 60 units and you will be able to extend for 3 days before/after. Complete details and reservation form will be available in April.

There are many luncheons held over the winter months in Arizona, Florida and Texas, where a lot of us spend our winters.  These are listed in the Calendar of Events. 

Be sure to mark your calendars and plan to join us for the 2012 International Rally which will be held in Gillette, Wyoming from June 25-30. Early parking days will be the 23rd and 24th. Watch for the February Konnection magazine and also our web site for details and registration forms. And to further entice you we will have full hooks at this rally.

For 2012 the published issues will be February, April, June, August, October and December.
Should be on line between the 5-8th of the month and received by mail by the 14th of the month in most cases.

Australia/New Zealand Tour for 2013

Below is a message the Klub office received from Tom Edgerton of Edgerton's Service concerning our upcoming Australia/New Zealand Tour for 2013. As this is booking very fast we did not feel we had time to wait for the February Konnection to come out. If you are interested please read and contact Edgerton's Travel Service direct to register or answer any questions you may have.

There has been so much interest in our Australia and New Zealand program that I thought I should give my best effort at arriving at an approximate price. The program will be as follows:

March 12 Our group will depart from Chicago, and connect in Los Angeles for the continuing flight to Auckland, NZ

March 14 Arrive in Auckland and you will be transferred to your hotel. The rooms have all been pre-reserved so you can immediately go to your room to rest.

March 15 Sightseeing today will include Rotorua, the Sheep Agrodome and Rainbow Springs Nature Park.

March 16 Transfer to the “Celebrity Solstice” which will sail at 8:00PM

March 17 Tauranga, New Zealand

March 18 At sea

March 19 Wellington, New Zealand

March 20 Christchurch, New Zealand

March 21 Dunedin, New Zealand

March 22 Sailing through Dusky Sound

March 22 Sailing through Doubtful Sound

March 22 Sailing through Milford Sound, New Zealand

March 23 At Sea

Transfer to the airport to fly to Cairns

March 30 A train trip through the jungles to Kuranda and a scenic Skyrail gondola trip back to the Coast.

March 31 Fly back to Los Angeles and Chicago arriving the same day.

Based on preliminary information we anticipate the following per person rates:

Inside Cabin $6,999.00

Balcony with partially Obstructed view $7,399.00

Mid-Ship balcony $7,599.00

Concierge Level balcony With additional amenities $7,699.00

These prices will include all air transportation from Chicago, 2 nights in Auckland prior to cruise, 12 night Celebrity Cruise, 3 nights in Cairns, all sightseeing and transfers, full travel insurance and a Tour Manager from Edgerton’s.

Please bear in mind that we will not have firm contracts from the airlines until April of 2012. All of our estimated prices are subject to currency fluctuations and constantly changing fuel surcharges. Having said that, however, I do believe that the final prices should be within 5% of those quoted above.

Those people that will be driving to Los Angeles and joining there can deduct $200 per person from the above prices.

The ship is already sold out of outside cabins with portholes and we have booked 12 cabins in the last two weeks so I would strongly encourage anyone that is interested in this program not to delay in making reservations.

We are still willing to hold a cabin with a deposit of $100 per person. If our final product does not meet with your approval when our brochure is printed then we will promptly refund your deposit. After you have seen the brochure and if you decide to join us then the full deposit of $1,000.00 per person will be due.

New Membership Offer

We are very pleased that Newmar Corporation is offering a “Special Offer” to first time members of the Newmar Kountry Klub. The “Special Offer” membership amount includes your Newmar Kountry Klub membership and subscription to the Konnection Magazine, for the remainder of the current year and for the next year. We will use the following schedule:

  • January thru March $65.00

  • October thru December $35.00

Region Directors Needed for Region 7

We are sorry to report that due to conflicts with working full time Stuart Codding and Linda Johnston have stepped down as Reg 7 Directors.

We are seeking a couple or individual to take on this challenging position. The new Director(s) will be appointed for a term of 3 years with a possible 1 year extension.

If you are interested in this position you must be a resident of any of the States in Region 7 and own a Newmar unit. You must be able to lead, possess good communications skills, be self-motivated, be a flexible team player, and like to meet a lot of wonderful people from all walks of life.
This position offers many challenges. You will be responsible for organizing and hosting the annual Regional Rally and for interacting with Newmar Dealers in your region. You will work directly with the State Directors, Chapters, and all members in the region. You will also work with the International Directors and the Klub office staff.

Benefits: You will be reimbursed for your International Rally Fee and expenses incurred within the region including travel expenses. Free Klub membership while in office. Rebate on your choice of Newmar RV. New name badge with title and display sign for your RV. Special recognition at all Newmar Kountry Klub functions you attend.
