HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE KLUB
by
JIM & WILMA WEEKS and LINDA FEECE
Here we are, back in this lovely little town of Nappanee where we will remain until we head west towards Gillette. We all have developed close friendships where we spend the winter months and it is sad to leave them behind as we head north. However, now we have the opportunity to spend 3 seasons with family, including our Newmar Family. We are anxious to meet up with our Klub members, either in the Newmar parking lot, or at rallies.
It’s not too late to sign up for the 27th NKK International Rally in Gillette, Wyoming, which is a great place to hold a rally. Don’t forget – the Early Bird Deadline is April 13th; if you register by that day you will be in the drawing to have your basic rally fee refunded! For you procrastinators out there the reservation deadline is June 15 but at that late date pre-rally tours may be sold out; so you better just get registered now!
The Cam-Plex is a beautiful facility and the areas around Wyoming are great for vacationing - so please do join us. Some of you have asked if we can get International Rally details out to you before you arrive. It is hard to give a lot of details at this time on International since this is being written late February and a lot of the scheduling takes place in April and May. We can however give you some tentative scheduling ideas we have. Early parking is Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24 and regular parking is Monday, June 25th.
Tours are set up for Sunday and Monday and you do need to sign up for all tours prior to arriving at the rally. If we don’t receive the Tour Company’s required minimum per bus, the busses will have to be released.
Registration will be from 9 am-3 pm on Saturday and from 9 am-1 pm on Sunday and Monday. When you register be sure and stop by the Information Desk and sign up for the Red Hat Tea, Joker Tournament and Bean Bag Tournament, which are $2.00 each. There will be various tables set up for you to check out, including local information, crafts classes, a table to sign up to be a volunteer, and a table for the book exchange, so bring along books you no longer need.
For those playing golf, an organizational meeting will take place on Sunday afternoon and the tournament is set up for Monday morning. Sunday evening we again will have a Worship Service, and it would be great if one of you would step up and offer to lead the Choir.
Monday is the official first rally day. The Newmar Suppliers, Parts Store, Vendor Products and the Merchandise Store will be open. We encourage all First-time rally attendees to attend a “Special Welcome” in the afternoon. Opening ceremonies will be held at 6:30 pm.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning breakfast will be served. Dinners will be held on Tuesday and Friday. Following dinner on Tuesday a Trivia Night is being hosted by John & Margaret Sammut, that you won’t want to miss, see separate article. Entertainment will be held on Monday and Thursday evening. Jack Jensen will entertain us on Monday evening. Jack is a singer and plays a variety of musical instruments. Sarah Getto, a singer, musician and songwriter (and a Newmar Kountry Klub member) will perform for us on Thursday evening.
Get your pets ready for the Pet Contest at 11:00 am on Tuesday morning. Queen Mum, Judy Faller, will be hosting the Red Hat Tea for all ladies at 2:00 pm on Thursday afternoon at which time Country Elegance will put on a style show. We refer you to separate articles pertaining to these events. The Joker Tournament and the Bean Bag Tournament should be a lot of fun for those who participate. Also the Live Auction with real cowboys should be a hoot, so please remember to bring along something to donate, with proceeds going toward the Konnection. The Arts and Craft Contest is on the schedule, as is the Craft sale. Free popcorn and lemonade will again be available, as well as an Ice Cream Social.
We have a variety of crafts on the schedule which are listed separately. Please sign up with the Klub Office prior to the rally as instructors need time to prepare. We can’t guarantee you can get into a class without pre-registration as each instructor has a minimum and maximum for each class. Seminar requests are now coming in and we encourage you to let us know as soon as possible if you have an interesting topic to share with attendees.
You still have time to sign up for various NKK Special Events held throughout the year that have been planned for you. See the separate event ads within this issue or contact Linda for the latest information regarding availability. At International we will arrange a time to meet up with others going on the same Event as you. If you have ideas for other Special Events please share them with us.
We have encouraged Klub members to notify us of articles they would like to see in the Konnection relating to:
- Questions for Corporate, the Klub or on service.
- Your favorite campground, or destination.
- Nominate a member who has gone beyond the call of duty for the Klub.
We have not had much activity relating to these topics. If you have suggestions for other types of articles that would be of interest to our readers, we would love to hear from you.
As I am sure you have all noticed, volunteers are not as plentiful as they were in the good old days. We are so appreciative of Officers at all levels who are involved in the Klub. Please take note of the little article entitled “State/Provincial Director Vacancies”. We sure would like to see all of these slots filled. Please step forward and help us and the Klub out. We are here for you, and we thank you for being there for us. Region 7 really needs a Regional Director – PLEASE help fill this position, it really is more fun than work. Contact us and we will tell you all about it.
The Kountry Klub Board Meeting will be held in May. If you have something you would like brought before the Board please send it in writing to the Klub Office or to your Members-at-large.
Have a fun safe trip to Gillette, and enjoy the roses along the way. Remember Wall Drug has free ice water and 5 cent coffee. Sure hope to see you in Gillette; and, if not there, at a rally over the summer months.
Have A Blessed Easter. LIFE IS GOOD, GOD IS GOOD, LET’S GIVE THANKS…
2012 INTERNATIONAL RALLY INFORMATION
Parking
This year we will have two levels of parking; 30 amp full hookups and 50 amp full hookups. We do have 300 of the 50 amp sites available. For the 50 amp sites you must arrive on Saturday, June 23rd. The rally cost will include the two early parking days. In order to have your reservation processed, all your paperwork must be in order and all fees paid in full. You can mail, fax your reservation to the office (574-773-5130), or sign up on line (www.newmarkountryklub.com). Sorry but we cannot take phone reservations for the International Rally.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR RESERVATION FORM BEFORE SENDING
We receive many forms that are not completely filled out, or with incorrect credit card information or check amounts. Unfortunately if we have to try to reach you to clear up a problem it will delay your reservation being processed. Please be sure to provide your email and cell number on your form.
CARAVANS
All caravan reservations must be sent in together either by mail, fax or online. If doing online the caravan leader must contact Linda in the Klub office to supply her with a list of who is in the caravan and when they are all being sent (must be on same day). The Caravan will be processed when all reservations have been received. Once the caravan is processed we cannot add units to the group. Any questions give Linda a call at 877-639-5582 or email to kountryklub@newmarcorp.com.
GPS COORDINATES
On last year’s Rally Survey Sheets several people had indicated they would like to have the GPS Coordinates provided. So here you go! Coordinates for the Cam-Plex in Gillette is N 44.28021 W 105.44880.
SERVICE AT INTERNATIONAL RALLY
Within your reservation packet you will receive a Service Request form in a yellow envelope. Be sure to fill out the form and return to the service department by deadline date. If you do not have time to mail by that date, bring paperwork to the rally and you will need to go in to the non-registered line for service write-ups. In order to service as many customers as possible during the rally, the Service Department will prioritize their service in the following sequence:
Emergency customers will be serviced first. Emergency items are ONLY items that would prevent a coach from leaving the rally, or render a coach uninhabitable.
Warranty customers will be serviced in order of date of purchase, beginning with the most recent.
Out-of-warranty customers will also be serviced in order of date of purchase, beginning with the most recent. Newmar will offer this service at a reduced service rate plus reduced cost of parts.
NO TRAMS AT THIS YEAR’S RALLY
We will not be offering tram service this year. However, there is ample parking around the building if driving is necessary. We will also have golf carts available for rental. Carts must be pre-registered and pre-paid. Reservation deadline is Friday, May 18th. See ad elsewhere for complete information.
PARTS DEPARTMENT
The Parts Department will bring an inventory of the more popular parts for you to purchase during the rally. Remember, if they do not have the part at the rally you can order it for later delivery. Start working on your list of parts needed.
HANDICAP & DIABETIC MEMBERS
Please make sure we are aware of your needs by indicating on your reservation form. For Handicap parking we will need a copy of your mirror hang tag or a letter from your doctor sent with your reservation.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE RALLY
Within this issue you will see an editorial listing areas we need help with. Not only will you be helping your fellow Klub members but it’s a great way to meet new friends. Call Linda in the Klub office, she will be glad to sign you up. Your Region Directors and the Fulltimers’ Chapter are also looking for volunteers; please contact them direct for information on duties involved.
RECEIVING MAIL AT THE RALLY
You can have mail sent to you during the rally. Please use this address for any mail or packages: Newmar Kountry Klub, your name and Klub number, c/o Cam-Plex Multi Event Facilities, 1635 Reata Dr, Gillette, WY 82718. Also have it marked “Hold For Pickup”. Please do not have anything delivered before June 20th. Any items received after the rally will be returned to sender.
DISPLAY YOUR KLUB NUMBERS
Please be sure your Klub number is displayed as you come in to the rally so our parking crews can keep track of all our arrivals. If we need to locate your unit in the event of an emergency the visible numbers are the fastest way to find you. They are also necessary for the service department or any vendors who are working on your unit to locate you. Thanks for your cooperation.
